Welcome!

The Bike Kitchen is a cooperative, do-it-yourself bike repair shop. We provide all the tools and parts you need to fix or build a bicycle. Our staff of volunteer mechanics is available to give advice and answer questions.

Instead of charging a fee for services, the Bike Kitchen charges membership dues: either $5 a day, or $40 a year. Purchasing a membership gives you access to all the tools and parts in our inventory. If you’re short on cash, you can earn a membership or parts by volunteering in the shop for a certain number of hours.

You don't need to be a member to learn more. Stop by during open hours and see what the Bike Kitchen is all about.

July 4th Race to Freedom Alleycat

The Bike Kitchen is hosting a race this Friday, July 4th!

• All racers to meet at the BK at 2:30pm to form teams and prepare.
• Teams of 1-3 people are to go to a number of parks that will be marked on a map (copies of which will be given to each team) to collect three patriotic objects from volunteers manning three parks. The racers won't know which three parks the booty is in, so a combination of speed, luck and team work will be required to win. Teams are allowed to split up, but all members must be present to win. The winning team will be the first team to return with all three items and all team members.
• Nominal entry fee of $5/team.

On April 28th 2005, the Bike Kitchen was awarded a Golden Wheel Award by the San Francisco Bike Coalition. The award recognizes "the vision and power of individuals who build stronger communities through bicycling".
